Uluru: Guided Walking Tour at Sunrise with Light Breakfast

About This Experience

This tour is a guided walk around the entire base of Uluru, starting with sunrise. The coach departs about an hour before sunrise, and you drive to Kuniya Piti while your driver guide begins sharing the Tjukurpa, the law and creation stories of the Anangu Traditional Owners.

The walk follows the Mala walk past sites where Anangu prepare for ceremonies, with the story of the Mala, the hare-wallaby people. At Kantju Gorge, water can pour off the rock as a waterfall after rain. Some of these sites carry photography restrictions, marked by signs.

You continue on the Lungkata walk and hear the Tjukurpa of Lungkata, the blue-tongue lizard. Your guide points out Aboriginal rock paintings, including at Mutitjulu Waterhole, and explains both the Indigenous and European history of Uluru.

The full base walk is 10.6 km on flat ground. A light breakfast with hot tea or coffee is served along the way, and the walk ends back at Kuniya Piti, where you receive a souvenir certificate. The tour finishes at about 1:00 pm.
