About This Experience

This is a guided walk around the whole base of Uluru, run by AAT Kings. You are picked up from your accommodation by air-conditioned coach and driven into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in the morning.

Before you set off, you have a light breakfast with tea, coffee or hot chocolate and biscuits while you take in the size of the rock. Uluru rises 348 m above the surrounding plain, and the walk follows its 9.4 km circumference.

The park measures the base walk at 10.6 km, about 3.5 hours. Your guide leads you past sacred sites, where photography restrictions are marked by signs, and to Aboriginal rock art. At Kantju Gorge, water flows off the side of Uluru and plunges into the gorge after rain.

Commentary runs through the tour, and the coach returns you to your accommodation at the end. The whole trip takes about 4.5 hours.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.7/5 by 167 verified Viator travelers.

Great early morning walk around the base of Uluru. It's a very easy walk with lots of stops to talk about points of significance for the Anangu people. It is cold in the beginning but warms up as the day goes on. Michelle was great, very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. Would highly recommend!

Stunning sunrise colours in the rock, pretty waterholes and fascinating rock art. Definitely worth going with a guide to learn about the cultural history of the rock.
