From Yulara: 3-Hour Small Group Kata Tjuta Afternoon Tour

About This Experience

This is a compact afternoon visit to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Your guide picks you up from your Ayers Rock Resort accommodation in a vehicle that seats a maximum of 15 passengers and drives you into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

On the approach you see the 36 domes that make up Kata Tjuta, and the shapes change as the road curves around to the four main domes. Your guide explains how the landscape formed over millions of years and what grows and lives in this part of the desert.

You then walk between the domes. In the cooler months the tour goes into Walpa Gorge, a 2.6 km return track of about an hour. SEIT's listing for the same tour says it skips Walpa Gorge from December to March because of the heat.

Your guide also covers the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta to the Anangu, the local Aboriginal people. Optional audio guides are available in six languages. You are back at your hotel in time for dinner, about 30 minutes before any evening experience you have booked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Kata Tjuta afternoon tour include Walpa Gorge?

In the cooler months, yes. SEIT's listing for this tour says it does not travel to Walpa Gorge from December to March because of the summer heat, so the walk is different in those months.

How much walking is involved?

You walk between the domes with your guide. When Walpa Gorge is included, that track is 2.6 km return and takes about an hour on a rocky surface. SEIT asks for at least a moderate level of fitness.

Will I be back in time for dinner?

Yes. The operator says the tour returns to Ayers Rock Resort about 30 minutes before any dinner experience you have booked, so it pairs with an evening dinner or show on the same day.

Is food or drink included?

No. The listing excludes meals and drinks, so bring your own water bottle and a snack if you want one. The tour lasts about three hours from pickup, and you are back before dinner.

Is the park pass included?

No. Adults need the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park pass, A$38 for 3 days, and under-18s enter free. Buy it online before the day and keep it on your phone or printed.

Can I cancel for free?

Yes. This booking has free cancellation up to 3 days in advance for a full refund. Cancellations inside 3 days are not refunded, so book once your Yulara dates are fixed.
